Taps & Tunes
Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center
Taps & Tunes was an annual craft beer and music festival hosted by the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center in Centennial Park, Fort Myers. The event featured award-winning breweries offering a wide selection of craft beers, food vendors, plus local and regional music acts. I re-designed the previous Taps & Tunes branding, and it was my responsibility to create all signage and marketing for the event.
Though I already created the signage and marketing materials of the festival each year, in 2019 I was tasked with re-creating the branding. The art center wished to depart from the old logo, which was a little busy and hard to read. I got to have fun with it, and we went with something more folksy and bold. For visuals, I incorporated illustrations over past photography, color maps, crunchy textures, and even a growler bottle.
With the new design elements decided, the first thing I needed to do was create basic print marketing. At the center, I created posters and promo cards for most of our events. I usually print and cut them myself too! Our team would distribute these materials to the surrounding local businesses and the locations of our event sponsors. Never underestimate a printed flyer.
Just as each event had its own marketing created for it, I also created a landing page for the event on the SBDAC site. I designed some poppy graphics and typography to incorporate with the event details.
For the festival itself, I designed shirts and banners to brand the event. We had large banners made to brand the stage, as well as banners for barricades and tents surrounding the event. The barricades and tents helped patrons know where to go and where to get their tickets. Not every banner is shown here, but there were quite a few! This festival was always a great time and provided an excellent opportunity to learn about festival marketing.
